Otley Town Go Down But Smiles All Round!

Scorchers girls played host to Otley Towns U9 girls at the weekend, playing 2 full matches in preparation for entry in to the Harrogate League next year. Otley brought over an inexperienced squad some of whom were playing only their second match. Scorchers got off to a flying start putting six goals in within the opening ten minutes. John quickly reorganised to re balance the game and things quickly settled down. Scorchers dominated the remainder of the first game and the final score finished nine nil. The second game was more even as Otley grew in confidence and came to grips with the step up to a 'proper' match. Scorchers went three up before Otley got the goal their hard work deserved. This gave them a real confidence boost with the final score finishing 4. 1. After the match John was thrilled with the performance and felt that all the Scorchers girls did really well. With the two G's strike force (Georgie and Georgia) in action again, hitting 10 goals between them, Kirstie hitting 2 and Daisy as ever majestic in midfield and also scoring a blinder, the Scorchers were always comfortable. Excellent performances also came from Jade in goal, Josie on the wing, and an encouraging debut from Rebecca Corcoran. All the girls played as a team and got the results they deserved. Well done.
