MIXED FORTUNES FOR THE GIRLS!!

The Scorchers girls played two full length fixtures against Ilkley on Saturday, a team they were playing for the first time. In order to get as many girls playing as possible Scorchers girls U9's played Ilkley's U11's and scorchers U11's played Ilkley's U12's.

Both games were always going to be a big test and the girls met the challenge.

Scorchers U9's

In a close game Scorchers battled hard to secure a fantastic one, nil win. Jayde was outstanding in goal and after Georgia gave Scorchers the lead with a long range shot the girls hung on with the defence playing particularly well to keep Ilkley out.

Scorchers U11's

Scorchers girls started brightly creating a couple of half chances before Ilkley found there rythm and started pinning the girls back in their own half. For the first 15 minutes the score remained nil, nil with Helen and Emily defending well and Hayley pulling off save after save. Olivia had a fine long range shot which was well saved. As the pressure continued the inevitable goals came and at half time scorchers were 5 0 down. In the second half playing up hill the girls battled well and with Imogen moving in to defence keeping Ilkley at bay. Debutant, Caitlin playing in midfield showed some good touches playing well alongside her new team mates. Hayley and Rebecca moved up front but had limited opportunities although Hayley was unlucky not to score when one on one with the keeper. All the girls worked hard and kept Ilkleys goal tally down to just two in the second half.

A return fixture may be arranged if we can find a weekend free.
