Two more exciting matches for the girls as they battled it out with York league side Poppleton Tigers. Both full matches were played with real commitment from both teams.
Our U9's playing against a mixture of U10's and U11's played out a memorable match scoring two first half goals from you know who, yes the two G's Georgia and Georgie did it again!! However it was all about the team performance as Philipa then Georgia in goal made some great saves, with the scorchers defence solid throughout and Ellie and Mollie doing particularly well. Mollie also finding time to go on the attack running the full length of the pitch only to see her shot come back off the post. Scorchers also fielded debutant Samantha who did well in her first game.The final score 2. nil to the scorchers.
Our U11's took on the Tigers U12's and what a thriller it was. The Tigers were quick on the break and a real handful for our defence, however Helen, Emily and Imogen were brilliant, with Helen playing probably her best game to date. The first Half saw Hayley in goal pulling off some good saves leaving the score at half time nil,nil. With Philipa switching to go in goal and being kept busy, Hayley played up front grabbing two well taken goals. The Tigers then hit back with their speedy striker hitting a good goal. Becky was excellent up front holding the ball up until the mid field could join the attack and Kayleigh was unlucky not to score. Melissa, Rebecca and Caitlin covered every blade of grass in midfield and didnt let the Tigers settle. A great team performance. Thanks to Dave for getting the pitches marked up in spite of the weather and thanks to the Mums, who supplied the teas.Thanks also to the Tigers.
