Girls U12 - Battling Performance

The Scorcher girls beat the weather, battling through flooded roads to play Ilkley Town in this competetive league match. Scorchers were slow to start playing against the wind. Hayley in goal covering for the absent Philippa, pulled off a string of fine saves, only to be beaten when a vicious shot spun away from her along the goal line partially crossing the line, only to be given as a goal. Emily and player of the day Imogen were solid in defence, keeping Ilkley at bay as they mounted a series of attacks, with the strong wind blowing Scorcher attacks were limited but Caitlin had an excellent run and Shannon had the keeper take the ball off her toes as she was about to shoot. With the score at 2 nil the second half started brightly with Emily pushing forward with Abbie along side creating some scoring opportunities for Kayleigh and Shannon. Melissa covered the defence along with Rebecca and Imogen restricting Ilkley to fewer chances, keeping a clean sheet in the second half. An excellent game with a real competetive edge and not a great deal between the two sides. Final score Ilkley 2 Scorchers Nil.
