With an eye already on next season, Mike B and Mike C have been checking out some of the latest coaching methods, attending a coaching session with The Football Association National Coach for children aged 5 to 11. The new coaching style will be rolled out nationally in the next twelve months and eventually across all ages and including adults. Good to see that the Scorchers are at the forefront of coaching development. Watch out for some new sessions next season.
Mike C has also been over at Leeds United Ladies, coaching with their three senior squads, Mike met up with Scorchers Leeds player Natalie Haigh and got the chance to pick up some tips from Gemma Grainger reserve team manager (Formally North Riding Girls Football development officer and previous big supporter of Scorchers girls). Althoughthe first team were preparing for their last game of the season against the dreaded Arsenal, Julie Chipchase the manager (and also England Girls U15 manager) still found time to explain the coaching sessions and it was good to see that whilst the girls take their training very seriously they still had a good laugh, watch out for football/volleyball next season at Scorchers, at one point every player was on the floor laughing so much. Thanks to all at Leeds United Ladies.
There are some further coaching opportunities coming up, so come on Scorchers Coaches, get your name down.
