FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER 2015

Dear all

In this our first newsletter of 2015 we will give you a quick summary of key information but please keep checking here on the club website for updates, and events.

If after reading the newsletter you have any questions at all, in the first instance ring either Warren Tweed Club Chairman on 01423 553842 / 07914946654 or Mike Collier Vice Chairman on 07979682670

Special Announcement
The Scorchers are pleased to announce that they have agreed outline plans with Scotton Parish Council and Harrogate Borough Council to develop 2 new full size pitches on the former golf driving range (land adjoining Percy Field). The exciting plans include a play area and further development of the country park. A working group has been set up with interested parties to lead on the development of each component part. We have gained support from the Football Association and are working with them to find funding. However it is clear that the Scorchers will have to raise significant sums of money commencing immediately. This means for you our members some fantastic new facilities; it also means a great deal of hard work and fundraising. Please see below our forthcoming events and please get in touch with how you can help us deliver the next stage in the clubs ambitious plans.

Fundraising (something for everyone)
  1. Thanks to the local companies who have already purchased round the pitch advertising at Percy Field. If you would like to find out more about advertising at the Scorchers please get in touch.
  2. Bed Race (June) – We need runners, stewards for the day, bed decorators, sponsorship of the bed. Please lend your support, the Bed Race is a fantastic day and I would recommend everyone to get involved.
  3. On your bikes, get set, go! (July) After last years brilliant fundraiser we are going back for more! This time it’s Liverpool to Leeds following the canal, stopping off at every football club en-route. See last years pictures on the web site. If you would like to join the fun, get in touch either to cycle, sponsor, support vehicle etc.
  4. Fancy Dress Party (August), we are planning a spectacular party at the Village Hall, please help us to organise it, come on I am sure there are some party animals out there!
For all the above please contact Keith Large at keith@hatransport.com Keith will allocate you to a Committee Member who will be leading each activity.

So You Want To Be In The Movies?
The Football Association are bringing a film crew down to the Scorchers as part of some work we are doing together on communication in football. If successful the film will be used by the FA in future promotion activity, so could be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the club. If you would be happy to talk about the club and would be happy for your child to be filmed please get in touch with Mike on mikeandjanec@googlemail.com

Coaching Development
A special mention for Carol our U13 girl’s coach who has just spent 4 days on the Football Associations Youth Module Level 1 course. Well done Carol, not only is Carol one of our most experienced coaches she is now one of our most qualified.

Child Safeguarding Course – Percy Field Saturday 14th March 1.30- 4.30pm
The FA are running this course (mandatory for all our coaches) and we still have a few places left. If you want to help out at the Scorchers, you need a CRB (Police check) and attendance on the FA Emergency Aid course and this course. Please contact Mike on mikeandjanec@googlemail.com to find out more (all costs are covered by the club)

Percy Field Tidy Up – Saturday 28th February 1pm
We have just added some new notice boards and need some volunteers to reorganise the posters and articles. We also need the new banister painting, old equipment removing and a general spring clean. See you there 1pm.

Bring Your party to the Scorchers
From the 1ST April to the 1st September the Pavilion is available to book for children’s parties; it’s just £40 and includes the use of the Scorchers kit and equipment if you want to have a football party. For the rest of the year the Pavilion (without the equipment and pitch) is available to hire at just £30. To book please contact mikeandjanec@googlemail.com

This newsletters ‘DID YOU KNOW’? All squads will use Percy Field during their time at the club. The current arrangement has our youngest players at the Cricket Club and our older players at Percy Field (Sundays sees our older teams play at Percy Field and other local villages) If you have a question about the club e mail mikeandjanec@googlemail.com

AND FINALLY…… We REALLY DO need Your Help!

Without volunteers the club would not survive. The more people get involved the club will have greater success of ensuring the children have a positive experience playing football, and the club will continue to thrive. Right now we need parents to become qualified coaches, please ask your coach if they need help and get in touch with Mike at mikeandjanec@googlemail.com

Our next Committee meeting is Tuesday 3rd March at the Guy Fawkes 7.30pm, please come along to find out more about the club without commitment.

Ps If you have read this far, thank you, e mail mikeandjanec@googlemail.com with the heading ‘Special Announcement’ to go in our draw for a special prize.

Thanks Mike Collier Club Secretary
