Wandering Nomads Edge it in Girls Mini Tournament

Scorchers girls took many positives from the mini tournament, not least giving all the girls a run out in competetive matches. With 30 girls representing the Scorchers playing six matches in all the coaches were all kept busy. The first match ended in a draw followed by two closely fought games each ending in 1 nil defeats. In the fourth match Scorchers had the better of the play and won 1 nil with a goal from Kayleigh settling the match. The remaining two games both ended in 1 nil defeats but scorchers were unlucky, unable to just finish off one or two real openings particularly when Georgia hit the post in the final game. Scorchers fielded a number of girls who were playing either their first game for Scorchers or their first game at this age group and they all did exceptionally well. They included Sienna, Rhiannon, Daisy, Jade, Emma and Natasha. Everyone played their part with particularly good performances from Philipa in goal and Emma C in defence. The Nomads who are going well in the local league were excellent hosts and all the games were well refereed. A home game will be arranged for later in the season but probably against their league sides at U10 and U11 so their will be a bigger challenge next time but will give us some idea of how we are progressing.
