Table Topping Tockwith Torture Scorchers!

A last minute request by Tockwith to play a full 40 minute league style game for their U12's girls was answered by Scotton this week. Tockwith who currently top their table in the York league and have yet to be beaten this season conceding only 4 goals were always going to be a real challenge for the Scorchers girls.

Nevertheles the first half was a tight affair with few chances falling to either side and a fair o.o scoreline was reflected. In the second half Tockwith lifted the pace and making one or two changes managed to break through the Scorchers defence. Using height advantage and producing some high crosses, Scorchers couldnt cope. The girls worked hard and produced some long range shots of their own, a final 5.0 score seemed harsh.

The second shorter match was played at great pace with end to end play, Scorchers taking the lead through Georgia. Tockwith again made changes and came back with three goals, their striker looking particularly sharp. Scorchers put everthing in to the game and were unlucky not to pull one back when Georgia hit the post. Scorchers finished the game pressing forward but couldnt find their way through a determined defence. Overall the girls did very well in freezing cold conditions and playing with only 2 U12 4 U11 1 U10 and 3 U9 girls certainly gave a good account of themselves. Thanks again to the parents who braved the bitterly cold weather. A special thanks has to go to one super Dad who not only drove to and from the dales and back again to collect his daughter just so she could play but its even more impressive particularly when he is so busy at this time of year (he is father Christmas apparently).
