As all of you should know, the Club and Coaches need you to help us in a concerted fundrasing drive over the next couple of months. Both the Knaresborough Fun Run and The Bed Race will be the focus of our activities, with kids and parents invited to take full and active role. All cash raised will be used to fund new facilities that we need at the new ground, namely changing facilities, storage, toilets etc.
FUN RUN - SUNDAY MAY 7
Sponsorship forms went out with the last news letter to every kid at the club. It would be really amazing to have every child possible, in their kit, running with the coaches in the Fun Run, raising as much in sponsorship as they can from Friends, Neighbours, Parents, Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas and Grandads. And then, for your entertainment, the Coaches plan to run the 10K afterwards. Any parent who fancies joining in would be more than welcome!!! This 10K should act as great training for our next challenge...
THE BED RACE - SATURDAY JUNE 10
The Scorchers have enterred a bed in this years run, and the 'pushers' training is now in full swing. While the Coaches themselves will be looking for sponsorship from their employers and friends, The Scorchers and it's supporters,have beeen invited, by the Knaresborough Lions, to work with them in selling programmes, marshalling and 'bucket shaking'. For this, we will get the majority of money collected by those our 'working for the Scorchers', plus a fee for each marshall, which is a fantastic opportunity. Knaresborough Celtic did this last year, and with the help of lots of volunteers, raised a substantial sum.
For this we need the help of lots of Parents and kids. Parents, we need you to be out there, kitted out in 'exclusive' T-Shirts, selling programmes before the event, and then, while the procession winds its way through the town, out and about with your children shaking those buckets and collecting as much as you can. During the race itself, we will be allocated an area to marshall by the Lions. Please, please give of your time to help us with this. Don't worry, the race will all be over in good time to get to see the England match later in the day. If you can help, let a Coach or club representative know. We will provide further infomation during the presentation evening were we will be looking to get as many of you 'signed up' as we can.
