The Scorchers U7, U9 and U11s season continued last Saturday with the Scorchers notching up an undefeated league 'hat-trick' and some fine performances in all the friendlies that took place.
The U11 fielded two squads and shared 4 games, with the first being the league fixture. A blistering start saw both sides had chances to take the lead but sound defending coupled with excellent goalkeeping kept the tie level. A free kick from SCOTTON’s Harry Wells just before half time put the home side into a deserved lead. After the break, SCOTTON applied further pressure, but it was a cheeky back-heal from Harry Fewkes that took SCOTTON into a 2 goal lead. Further fine goals from Hugo Corbett, and a second from Harry Wells sealed a 4 – 0 victory. The reverse friendlies saw SCOTTON turned on the style with goals coming, from among others, Bradley Dent and a match-day hat trick from Hugo Corbett completed a 5 – 0 win.
In the further two squad friendlies, SCOTTON’s U11s showed the depth of the squad by holding Beckwithshaw to a draw, preceded by a fantastic 5 – 2 SCOTTON win – Sam Bull, Joe Brennan, Luke Powderly and Elliott Tutt were in the goals.
In the Under 9's, another strong display from Scotton Scorchers resulted in a 4 - 1 win over Beckwithshaw. A second hatrick from Josh Osborne in as many games supported by a goal from Jackson Hobson sealed a comprehensive performance from all the team. This was followed by a second game where a good performance from the team with an emphatic penalty from Danny Bradshaw saw Beckwithshaw steal a 2 – 1 win.
The U7s faced a Beckwithshaw who had neither conceded a point or a goal all season. However, in a match that was evenly balanced throughout, THE SCORCHERS showed real determination by coming back from a goal behind 3 times, resulting in a hard-fought 3 -3 draw at the final whistle.
In the following friedly, Beckwithshaws strength in squad showed through with them defeating the Scorchers 0-4.
